In the old days I got a couple of seat posts really cheap because they slipped. I took it apart and noticed a very shiny patch (the high spot where it actually contacted) that has lost the matt finish that provided some grip. I masked the post so I could bead blast the mating surface and give it a new rough finish (do both parts) and...Viola! No more slippage.
