Forgive me if this has been aired already and explained in full, but what was the origin of Campagnolo QR hubs? There is a page in the 1940 Tabucchi Tyres catalogue showing three hubs. The steel barrel, dural flange ones are sold as Ambra but the letters FB can be clearly seen on the centre of the barrels. Under these two is the "Campagnolo (Patented) Automatic Quick Release Hubs". The drawing shows what is clearly the FB front hub but with a skewer through it (with a little dumbbell on the non lever end) and the word Campagnolo written above the drawing. Obviously the hubs were made by FB, but what was patented and by whom? Presumably it was the idea of the cam lever at the end of the skewer. Did FB also make the skewer and lever for Campagnolo?
