Here's how John Hollands
http://www.classicrendezvous.com/USA/Hollands_frames.htm
repaired the bent dropout on a frame he built and which I
subsequently decided to crash:
1) The bent, bottom portion of dropout was placed
in a big bench vice
2) The rest of the frame was used as a lever to
bring the dropout back into the original shape.
I imagine that the final "fine tuning" was done with the proper
Park, Campy or VAR tool. I didn't see the final phase of this
procedure which, I imagine, came after he replaced the seat
stays - but I also imagine that this final stage could also be
done well with a monkey wrench.
Anyway, I was shocked at first when watching him place the
frame in the vice but right now you can't tell that the dropout
was ever damaged.
Best regards,
Fred Rednor - Arlington, Virginia
