A correction. . . .

Earlier I misidentified the car in this photo as a Peugeot 403 Estate-- http://www.cyclingnews.com/tech.php?id=photos/2003/tech/news/jul28news/dscn0 565

Soon after I sent the message, it hit me that the car is a Peugeot 203. But no one seemed as concerned about the car model as they did the bike (or Gabbi), so I was didn't post a correction.

But Hilary wrote to let me know that it was indeed a 203, not a 403. So there's at least one person out there who caught the error, and I figure there may be more who were interested in the car.

The 203 wagon was in production from 1950 through 1956, I believe, though I'm not positive about that. At the time of the 1960 TdF, the Peugeot 403 was half-way through its production life. The 404 was just hitting the streets, if I remember correctly. I think all these models--and the 504 that came out in the late 60s--served as TdF vehicles.

At any rate, as Hilary pointed out to me, the restored Peugeot in the photo is a 203 wagon, not a 403.
