Well folks today I made a life long dream happen. I bought a post 1973? to mid 70s? Cinelli Special Corsa Type A. I have not received the bike yet but could not resist posting pics at: http://photos.yahoo.com/cp16r

As a kid living in Africa, I used to race against a bike similar to this and have wanted one ever since! The person I bought it from says it is totally original -- we will see when it arrives.

Mike,

Awesome seeming bike! If that seat is the original and has been on the bike the whole time, it is little-ridden as I can wear half the silver painted logos off the sides of a UnicaNitor in about a month of light use!

I think your age estimate is right on. My '71 SC is nearly identical but has no water bottle or BB cable guide braze-ons. Here's hoping for no nasty surprises.

##### They can be cut and ground; probably enough threading. I know of a few spares 129 mm long.

Except for the presence or absence of the drilled hole for the peg that fits between the crank arm and the outer cog, there seems to be no difference. You could be the first on your block with a 42-42, to match the ultimate corn-cob FW on the CR site.

Agreed a hacksaw with a new blade and, as someone earlier suggested, using a nut inside the cut to chase the thread as you unscrew it will work fine.

I have a 42-42 '70s Record set up hanging on the wall from a short-lived city bike-tavern racer I built. The only reason I didn't use a single 42, was to keep the chainline reasonable across the freewheel's six cogs.
