With campy lever clamps that use nuts, you can just stop the stitching above and below the clamp and let the lever rest on top of the leather. This is nice because you can adjust lever height with only a little unstitching and restitching. Carry the tool that tightens the levers; they may loosen up on the first few rides as the lever bodies settle into the leather.

The lever clamps that use bolts have a square section that protrudes up from the bars and will require a bigger interruption in the stitching, or maybe cutouts in the leather to fit around the clamp. With the campy clamps, just the threaded post protrudes, and the leather can flow around on either side.

ps: some other levers fit the campy clamps if you substitute an allen-keyed V-brake pad nut for the 8 mm campy nut ...
