It may be that I am thinking of some other cranks besides the Victory cranks...you know those really ugly-looking cranks with the trapezoidal patterns in the rings? I have a set right here. Maybe they were late Gran Sport, or Triomphe, or some such. Anyway, I can't imagine what the designer was thinking. Sure, make a price-point crank, but why make it so darned ugly? Another miscalculation following Tullio's passing, it seems.

I must say, I have been very impressed with the aesthetics of Campagnolo's stuff the last three or four years. The company seems to have reconnected with the classic styling of its own past.

PS: and while I'm sure I'll get an argument, I have to say, those Mavic "starfish" cranks, are, I think, very, very weird looking. I guess I just don't get it.
