Correct me if I'm wrong , but . . .

They started off being NOT inexpensive .

Over time they became slightly more expensive than they were originally . Plus , they introduced even fancier versions .

They were NEVER really easy to find , either wholesale , or retail . They appeared in all sorts of catalogs , in all sorts of varieties . But , when it came to actually ordering them , they were not always that simple to buy . Waiting was often involved .

There were many variations , which ceased to exist at different times .

Then , about the time high-quality flexible plastic saddles from Avocet reached their first big sales peak , Cinelli / Unica - Nitor saddles just seemed to start disappearing .

The very most Cinelli saddles , with the suede , and the aluminum frames , and the special presentation box , with the included extra-long extra-light aluminum bolt for your Campagnolo seat-post . . . were very prestigious . But they didn't sell all that well ( and had to be treated with some care ) .

And then they were gone .
