Most of my bikes are french, but I have only one Motobecane, a Le Champion. I was told when I bought the frame that it was a 73 model. Just for the record, it has a metal headbadge, Campagnolo dropouts with eyelets, French language Reynolds 531 decals, and the only chrome is the half chromed fork. The bike doesn't show any sign of a repaint, and all the decals appear to be intact. It rides like a dream, but I still think that Motobecane is the french bike equivalent to Ford Motor Company. They built huge numbers of product, but none very interesting. My memory doesn't always serve me well, but do I remember a Motobecane Team Champion that was a pale lilac color with blue lettering? Hey! 30 years ago is a long time!
