Subject: [CR]Motobecane discussion

I purchased a Motobecane "Super Champion" nearly 20 years ago. It is orange with black graphics, a metal head badge, campag drops with adjusters and no eyelets. The 531 decal is French, full DB. The only braze-ons are a tab for positioning the DT shifters, and a double R. Der. cable stop. The stays are painted, the fork blades are chromed (6 in.) and the (beautiful) crown is chromed. The (long point, well finished) lugs are outlined in gold. The BB shell is drilled (five holes). The numbers stamped on the BB shell are 9 451 and the size: 62. I assume the paint is laquer, as evidenced by the "crazed" spider web appearance. I bought it as a F/F with cmpag headset and BB, so I finished it with compag. If anyone knows anything about this bike, I would appreciate comments. ( When was it built, what components are original to the bike, what wheels, etc.)

I wouldn't compare it to a Ford. The only one I ever owned ('54 flathead V-8, I drove hard, blew the motor and ditched it on a side street in Great Falls, Montana in 1962. Maybe it's still there.)

Thanks in advance for help.
