I may have missed mention of the latest Asphault magazine on the list, but wow, did CR list members hit the jackpot or what? This from memory: In addition to ads from Weigle and Joe Bell, great article on Velo Retro and plug for Velo Rendezvous (pic of Brian Baylis, Chuck Schmidt, Peter and Jan Johnson, and a smiling Dave Staub--must have been one of the last pictures of him. And, what I presumed was a seatlug shot from a Peter Johnson frame. And, I noticed that John Pergolizzi must have used his New York Italian connections on the author to have his name mentioned in the article. Then, Woolistic clothing, Jan Johnson's offerings, got a very nice write up. Richie Sachs lugs have an article and I don't know how Richie does it but one of the riders is wearing a pair of Richard Sachs socks in another non-related picture. And, a couple of CR listmembers had letters to the editor published. The article on the Gangl (sp?) frames under the "Torchbearer" column was interesting. Nice looking off-topic bike and a very nice article. I don't know Gangl, but if someone does, perhaps an invitation to join us would be beneficial to all. He seems to have the background. The bike was a Ti road fixed gear bike with nice paint and filed lugs, similar to the filed smooth welds that Tom Kellogg did to the Spectrum titanium frames. I seem to recall seeing Jan Heine's name somewhere too, but the reference escapes me--I was reading his latest VBQ on the same plane trip. I certainly enjoyed the article about Tuscany, but I would be hard pressed to pick a favorite as the entire magazine was done very well. I hope the publishers keep it up. Lou Deeter, Orlando FL
