The TA or Stronglight cups are thinner than Nuevo Record cups, typically about 2mm. This will alter the chainline and probably not leave enough threads on the lockring. Use the Campy cups or Sugino Mighty.

There will not be damage to the bearing surfaces if you can jigger it so the chainlines etc. work For example Stronglight and TA more or less interchange with older Campagnolo Record cups.
