To correctly install the Phil unit the bb shell must be absolutely clean. I use carb and choke cleaner and paper towels untill the towels come out clean. Try not to get the cleaner on the paint as it will not get along well with lacquer and other finishes. Takes 10 minutes. Install the cups dry; to set up chain line. Then pull one cup, blue locktite it, and reinstall. Then the other. A little grease on the axel/crank interface, proper torque, and it ain't gonna come apart untill you want her to. A little grease on the bb unit where she touches the inside of the cup is nice too. Wherever metal touches metal. And don't forget: the newer Phil cups are stainless steel, so no need to worry about galvanic action.
