I want to start gathering equipment for my Baines frame but to be honest am not sure where to start. The frame is 1936 however I am interested in building a bike that has equipment from the 50s, 60s and 70s. The frame has had a braze on added for 1 downtube shift lever and has a derailleur hanger. Rear spacing is 110mm.
So here are my questions: What hubs? 5 speed? and if so what derailleur and crank set? Could I go with a TA single of some sort? What BB? As far as stem and bars I was thinking of GB. Brakes - Weinmann? Don't need a headset as the frame has a TDC installed. I want the equipment chosen to be somewhat tasteful, by that I mean work reasonably well with the older frame. Money is (obviously) also a consideration -- if I had lots I would go with all original equipment!
I am a novice when it comes to dealing with older frames so need all the help I can get!
