Hi everyone- I have been a list member for some time now but haven't gotten around to introducing myself till now. My name is Jeff Chrystler and I live in the cycling backwater of South Bend, Indiana. I love vintage racing bikes, particularly Italian, but I'm also amazed at the French constructeurs work. My on-timeline machine is an '82 Tommasini that I bought at a tag sale a few years ago. Judging from the component mix it appears to be a neo-pro model with N.R. derailers and hubs, Zeus cranks with drilled chainring, Omas headset and Modolo Speedy brakeset. The Columbus decal was unreadable. Chris Kvale, who did the repaint, thinks it might have been Tre Tubi. The bike was a nauseating, terribly done Pepto Bismol pink with a unique flat-crown chrome fork. I have no isssues with pink Italian race bikes, but this was unacceptable. Chris did an awsome red with yellow highlights on the lugs that transformed the bike. I also have a Rivendell Road set up for touring with a mix of T.A., Suntour and Campy, and a Bridgestone MB-2 all-purpose urban assault rig on which I routinely look death squarely in the face by using as my transportation. It's not easy being a cyclist here, but you all probably know THAT story. Anyway, thanks for having me and I look forward to learning more from you. Hopefully I can contrtibute as well.
