Blasphemous?

I read in a U.S. publication (VeloNews?) a few years back that Campy didn't do their own forging, but that they bought forgings made to their designs.

Nothing wrong with that...

René Herse cranks also were forged and machined by a subcontractor. -- Jan Heine, Seattle Editor/Publisher Vintage Bicycle Quarterly http://www.mindspring.com/~heine/bikesite/bikesite/

On the subject of FB hubs – also my favourites particularly the hi flange with inner and outer holes – Nice! I always had the impression that all the hubs made by Campagnolo in the 50s prior to the one-piece alloy ones, were made by FB. I know that many people find the idea that Campy subcontracted out manufacture as nothing short of blasphemous, but I can tell you from my near 30 years in the European bike trade, that they did, and frequently!
