Subject: [CR]Cinelli Stem Badge story

Dearest Listiees, A few months ago on a trade, I received from a fellow listmember, a Cinelli steel stem. Deep drop too. Said stem was described to me as having once had a Cinelli stem badge attached but now was naked and that the listmember DID NOT have the badge. I made the trade (gave an nos Huret Jubilee front der. I also included gratis a very used braze on front der of same make and model). I sent the derailleurs quickly and I evennnnntuuuuuallllllly received the stem. No badge but correct holes. So all was well with the world. Untill about two weeks later when the SAME list member put up for sale (on the list) a CINELLI STEM BADGE! Huh? What? A real one; no fake. Guess it just got found at the bottom of some drawer of some bikie junk or whatnot. I immediately called the listmember and left a total of three messages and a couple o e-mails letting the listmember know that I would PAY,Pay,PaY for that stem badge. I've got at least two other complete badged Cinelli stems and I really didn't need it, but at least I would be keeping a matched set together. ( if one is good, then two are better, and three are just enough.) I must conclude that the listmember didn't feel the same way I did, as he never returned my calls. Or e-mailed me back. Maybe he died or something, cause I've never heard back from him (all this after, on my advise, he sold a chrome Cinelli road bike to a Japanese fellow for $5,000.00 after offering it to the list for about $3,000.00 with no takers. But that's another story and is really not germane). I kid you not. I can't make this shit up. This whole story, since we were on the subject of Cinelli badges, was to ask the lucky owner of the stem badge without a stem, that we need to appease the bike gods. So sell me the badge. Or I'll sell you the stem. Or lets sell the both of them to someone else and laugh over a cold beer. Not bitter and I'm not bitching and moaning. Just a true story and it seemed like a good time to tell it. Oh yea, I ain't gonna help that listmember no more.
