Subject: [CR]Mavic red Label rims

I'm a bit confused on these rims. I bought a pair Saturday at T-town and they are not the same as a similar pair of rims that I had purchased a few months ago. Both pairs of rims are 36 hole, aluminum "polished" tubular rims with a similar cross section and similar red Mavic labels with the wording MAVIC in a gold diamond shaped area. I don't see any other marking or other labels on the rims.

However one pair is a bit more polished than the other. This more polished type has eyelets that only are within the outer surface of the box section rims, and groves or ridges on the concave surface where the tires would be glued. These rims also are about 14 oz. each in weight.

The other rims have a slightly duller finish, almost a bit cloudy aluminum color as opposed to a more highly polished finish. These rims do not have any ridges or grooves on the gluing surface, and also have eyelets that are connected into both the inner and outer portion of the box section rims. These rims also are lighter, about 12 oz. each.

Any ideas about what these are? Should these rims have other labels that identify them more specifically?

Thanks,
