Subject: [CR]Masi tale

The melodrama of Brian's great tale had me on the edge of my seat. Perhaps Mr Baylis could make up a replica with a smashed in top tube? If Brett could locate that hammer for his collection, now that would be something! Faliero's reputation.....another flakey artist doing brilliant work.

> If I may add one little detail to Brian's retelling of the tale...
>
> It was, I thought, a significant detail. Peter did say that before
> he walked into Masi's shop, he had consulted with Cinelli
> and, I believe, Campagnolo. He told them, quote "I may be
> rather unpleasant..."
>
> To which the folks at Cinelli and Campagnolo apparently replied
> "...that's ok with us..."
>
> Gives a bit more insight into Masi's reputation inside Italy, seems to
> me, at least among some of his suppliers..
>
> It does seem--at the risk of being indiscreet--that Faliero was not the
> straightest arrow that ever left the quiver..
