I have a mid-70's PX-10 or similar. The headset is a Stronglight Competition, but the BB is unlabeled. The fixed cup is 8-sided, and the adjusting side is 6-sided. I'm assuming French threading. It feels smooth, so I want to use it, but I'd like to service it. The spindle is 118mm, and had a Stronglight 93 mounted.
A) Are there any tools available besides an adjustable wrench to remove the fixed cup? The size appears to be 38mm.
B) The 93 crankset is a 170mm (on a 64cm frame!), which I don't want. I'm not restoring, so authenticity isn't an issue. Anyone have suggestions on crank models likely to be available in 175mm that would properly fit the 118mm spindle?
