Okay...gotta weigh in on this.

It's interesting to me & I think it can be relevent. Often cultural background isn't. But we have no problem at all with indicating that a builder is Swiss, Italian, Brit, Scot, Irish, [yesss, I know...] ....American, French, even Russian without getting edgy--. Jewish Russian culture is just as distinct and knowing that about Hetchins or others might inform our understanding of his design values and influences or it might not.

Knowing I'm an Appalacian-American with Scots-Irish, German, & Swedish hill-billy ancestory tells you nothing about my design values or traditions. I'm too Americanized. Well, I suppose that I could look it up but what is a yellow dog Democrat? A yellow-dog Democrat is a one who'd vote for a yellow dog so long as he's a Democrat. They've been around for a long time. There are also blue-dog, green-dog, & rainbow-dog Democrats. Waaayyy off-topic. Tells you nothing about a bloke's design values or traditions.

I rarely disagree with Chuck ....here I think he only wanted to be sure that no one feels singled out for unfair stereo typing.

Well yeah... and along with needing to know the bike builders religion, what political party do they belong to?
