[CR]1952 Giro d'Italia card on eBay Italia

There's an advertising card on Italian eBay, promoting the 1952 Giro d'Italia. Nothing odd about that, but I'm having trouble understanding what the graphics represent.

What are the blue blobs, and why is there a broken orange "blast" between them? What is the coffin-shaped black outline beneath them?

I just can't seem to see this picture correctly. What am I missing?
