By the way , speaking of date codes . . .
On many of those Atom-Normandy-Maillard hubs ,
>From the late-1960's ,
Up through the early-1980's ,
On very many French bicycles ,
And Schwinns ,
And Raleighs ,
I used to think if I looked at a hub shell , and saw something like 10 72 , or 72 10 , that it would obviously indicate a manufacturing date of October 1972 .
Then I looked at more of those hub shells . I've seen numbers such as 15 72 , or 26 73 .
Well how about that ! Obviously , on at LEAST SOME of those hubs , one of the numbers is the year , and the other number is a "batch number" or a "lot number" or maybe even a "building number" or a "work-station number" , etc. , etc .
