>From a sellers point of view, Paypal has been a Godsend! For some reason the dollar in all its forms is a hard currency to cash in the Uk and presumably Europe as well. Curiously Japanese buyers have always been able to send me money orders in GB pounds with no difficulty, something that doesn';t seem to be easily available to folks in the US. In the past I've paid some very hefty comission charges on money orders - in one case a £30 ($45ish) 'negotiation fee' on a $100 money order! Wiring money into bank accounts is almost completely taboo because of the NIgerian scams and the fact that it can be done without trace and doesn't have to tie in with the seller's mailing address. Signed Travellers cheques are no different from sending dollars in cash, which some people prefer to do. Sending cash or travellers cheques by recorded delivery invalidates the insurance, but for the record all of the 50 or so cash mailings have all turned up pretty promptly. I've now done in the region of 60 Paypal overseas transactions both ways on Paypal and the conversion rates/charges for withdrawing the money have become negligible compared to other means of sending money. I keep on seeing that people either distrust Paypal or have heard of other's bad experiences. As far as I can see the only drawback is that it would be difficult to get redress if there is a problem with the goods on receipt - but isn't that the same with all the other methods? I also accept credit cards because I'm already set up with another business - but since Paypal I've barely used it. The difficulty with CCs is that the details either have to be faxed or split across several emails to avoid being intercepted. I would be interested to hear of other people's views, particularily if you've had a bad experience as a buyer when using Paypal.
