Hi Jerry,

I read that you acquired a Rixe. I haven't seen one since 1963. My dad sold them in our shop in Anaheim Ca in 1961-1962. They were beautifully made bikes. I rtemember two with smoked paintjobs, ala Allegro and later Mondia. We also had a gentleman's model with hammered aluminum fenders, generator lighting and North road bend bars. The Stronglight cottered crank appeared on many higher end bikes of the day. I remember some Schwinn Paramounts came with Stronglight steel cranks in 1958-1960 and were priced lower than the full Campy bikes. I still have some new TA spiders for the Super criterium crankset that will fit your crank. I have a selection of cotters ranging from 8mm to 10mm in diameterin .5MM increments. The tapers also vary. Var made a neat cotter vice to hold crankpins for resizing or retapering the flats with a file. Unfortunately there is no standardization between makers. A Var cotter press is quite handy for professional installations. Your Rixe brings back good memories, Thanks.
