Subject: [CR]Casati Victory Bikes at AMCyclery ...

I recently purchased a blue "1984/5 TREK 510" Triomphe(=Victory) bike and it's just great. The rear derailleur is arguably smoother than my record one(s), and the brakes feel just like Nuovo Record, and share many parts with them (all but the QR). The downtube shift levers are imho the prettiest non-nuovo records levers available. And what campy hubs ever wore out?

I have heard that the triomphe victory were lighter than nuovo record ones, and the 116 bcd is more practical than the contemporary (record, chorus, centaur) cranksets - they can easily be homebrew-triplized, and they accept 35T / 36T rings (116 bcd), available from (wwcyclery on ebay ; bicycle classics) which is great for steep hilly areas. These cranks are not anodized so you can really shine them up !!!

I wish that there was a little more coverage of the triomphe and victory groups on the campagnolo timeline. I believe that when C-record was released, these two groups inherited some of the Record and Super-Record designs and parts, upgrading the gran sport group. The triomphe calipers and victory levers are very close to super record in appearance. These groups first appeared on my 1985 bicycle, not in 1986, as listed in the campy timeline.
