Subject: [CR]mavic components and tour-de-france win

Regarding Mavic components,Greg LeMond won that close(8 second!) Tour-De-France in 1989 using Mavic components. Sean Kelly rode the first generation Mavic SSC groupo on his Vitus 979 branded "Kas" in the 1980's. Mavic components are excellant quality, their sealed hubs were very smooth, too many of us only think of Campag(me included!),a 1980s' Vitus 979 or "Carbonne" with a Mavic SSC group including SSC blue rims and Silk tubulars would be a interesting renovation project! The only problem that I came across with a Mavic component was that the chainring bolts on the Mavic "dish-plate" chainset used to strip realy easy. There were a lot of interesting components made in the 1970s/1980s that were not Campag or Shimano,I remember Galli,Rino,FT,Gippiemme,Miche,Spidel(Simplex,Sedis,Mafac),Modollo, ect. Happy festive cycling!
