Subject: [CR]What's the going rate for a '51 Bianchi?

I made some enquiries the other day about a 1951 Bianchi Paris Roubaix, refinished but otherwise original, that I saw advertised and was a little surprised (that's British understatement for completely stunned) when I was quoted a price of £2,200 ($3,400?). Affecting complete indifference to the price, I said, "So that's the going rate for a '51 Bianchi, then," and the seller said, "No, the going rate is £2,700 ($4,200). You'd be getting a bargain."

Given some of the prices that classic bikes are failing to reach on Ebay, these figures seemed over the top to me. Any views?

Cheers, Bruce Dundee
