Subject: [CR]Cromor and Tre-Tubi

Friends, Two questions and a comment: 1) I thought Cromor was a "specially processed" (laser welded?) seamed tube - i.e. Columbus's answer to Reynolds 5-0-1. Is that really not the case?

2) I thought the "Tre Tubi" does not imply any particular type of Columbus tubing. It only indicates that the 3 main tubes are _some_ type of genuine Columbus tube. (Unless of course there's an additional note, e.g. "SL" or "Cromor".) Is that not really the case?

Comment: I just want to reiterate that in the '50s and '60s (and even the '70s) many really high quality frames had no tubing labels whatsoever. The handful of older Italian frame builders that I had ocassion to meet viewed that sort of thing as a British affectation. Cheers, Fred Rednor - Arlington, Virginia
