Just quickly checking the 1978 and 1979 Schwinn catalogs that are sitting on my desk, they say:

1978 - "Single models use Reynolds 531 double butted and taper gauge tubing throughout with Campagnolo forged fork ends front and rear."

1979 - "Schwinn hand-built of Reynolds 531 double butted and taper gauge manganese alloy steel tubing, fully lugged with Campagnolo fork ends with eyelets - head and seat mast angles 73 degrees parallel."
