While you shouldn't judge the overall quality of a company's products based on a lower priced model, I do think it is fair to point out what you are looking at to judge the quality of a particular frame for instance.

With anything long out of production we all have to play the detective and come to some conclusions for ourselves and I think it is helpful to share the criteria we use to accomplish that.

I think critical comments _are_ called for... especially when it concerns eBay auctions!
