A Campag Gran Sport has just appeared on eBay uk with an opening price
on it of ninety pounds sterling. I hope that nobody new to the game thinks
that is a sensible price and bids it even higher. For that money, I would
expect it to have a fairly good bicycle attached to it Not a Hetchins or a
Bates, of course, but one of the mid range Holdsworths at the very least.
If anybody on the CR list likes to boast of the high prices they pay,
then take a trip to bucolic Sussex where we silly rustics will happily charge
absurdly high prices as a social service.
Is eBay becoming the Petticoat Lane of the Internet? (Translation
available for overseas readers.) Despite my levity, I think we should avoid
shooting each other in the feet by bidding up to absurd levels rather than
patiently waiting a few weeks
