Oh yea it goes w. . . a. . . y. . . and I think folks experimented with them on penny farthings, Larry or other Wheelfolk? They also had one at Interbike about 10 years ago where the whole mechanism was in the BB. My favorite 2-speed was the Bendix Duomatic.
