"Indented" seat stay end or "fluted" seat stay end? Any preferences?

I think there are both kinds. For the seat stays most of the discussion has been about, with caps or plugs and that delightful oval hollow end, use fluted. On the other hand, my rough weather bike (an old Puch Austor-Daimler) has truly indented seat-stay ends. They look like they were simply laid on an anvil and hammered down, maybe with a large ball-peen hammer. They have a rough, quick and dirty, cheap look. They have a little hollow to them, but the edges are just bent over, not crisp like the Masis. I dohn't know how they handled the other side of the stay, where it is brazed to the sdeat lug. While we're on the subject of nice flute seat-stay end, my brother's Dave Moulton bike has very nice fluted (not indented) ends. The mitering looks to be 2" long, and the fluting is pronounced and uniform, and the edges are regular and almost sharp. Nice job done on those.
