The Berthoud on German e-bay shows how wrong you can get... when looking for something classic without expert advice. It's what I would have ordered 15 years ago!
I am sure Gilles Berthoud only sold the frame and fork, through the mail, and the customer built it themselves - the frame is way too small for the rider, especially for a randonneur bike. The wooden fenders are cool, but for serious riding in the rain you need some coverage. And where do you carry the luggage without a front rack...
But then, the bike seems almost unridden and is for sale... It is perfect for riding to the ice cream parlor (which is where you see sports cars and the like in Germany).
That said, for somebody a lot shorter than the original owner, and some different components, it would make a nice bike.
