Subject: [CR]"Mystery De Rosa"

Last Sunday, a "for sale" was posted for a blue De Rosa with a Super Record gruppo, etc. The seller admitted not knowing the presice year or model, but the photos showed a very nice bike, the price seemed more than fair, so I bought it. Scoot Davis shipped promptly and the bike arrived today - as he described it and very, veey nice. (Thanks Scott.)

My problem is year and model. Scott said he picked up the bike in Italy, but the logos engraved on the DT shifters are clearly the "10 Speed Drive" logos, the US importer in the 80s. The crank, which is almost new or little used is SL with the 'squared' 1, indicating 1981. The tubing sticker says SLK, which is no okder than 84(?). The sloping crown all chrome fork has the "De Rosa" name rather than a 'heart' logo. (See the link to the photos in the digest from Sunday or the archieves.)

So, the "Chevron" decals are not that common but I have found them in some 80s catalogs. The only # on the BB is "I 14"

Anyone have an idea on date or model? The last time I asked, the best guess was mid to laeish 80s. I suppose the distributor could have put an 81 crank ona later frame, but whi knows if is original or a replacement. Any moe ideas with this additional info?
