I put a hollow-pin Regina on a track bike once, it wasn't too hard and it held up fine. You grind one end of the hollow pin off to remove the peening that holds it in; then turn that joint into a regular non-hollow pin using a spare inner bushing from one of the regular links.

Doesn't matter if you muck up the outer plate there while grinding, because you aren't going to use that outer plate, it gets tossed.

I also like hollow-pin chains for the timing chain on tandems, another place where we don't care if it's a good shifting chain or not.
