Richard- During my first year or so of employment at "Masi" I sliced the tips of my fingers quite a few times preparing Gran Criterium seatstays for fluted caps. That would have been 20 years after you say "Masi" began using them in 1975. Did you make a typo or is the discussion of "Masi" limited to Faliero-Masis, Alberto-Masis, Carlsbad-Masis, San Marcos 1-Masis, San Marcos 2-Masis, San Marcos 3-Masis, 4, 5... and, you ask: "Wasn't masi really trying to make frame building easier and faster?" they were a production shop. you cannot fault them for seeking efficiency. e-RICHIE chester, ct

Wasn't one main purpose of the 3V internal lug design to eliminate the need for mitre cuts? Aren't these cool looking dropouts designed to eliminate mitre cuts? Sure speeds up the building process when you don't have to do fish mouth mitre cuts and be perfect with your brazing and filing. Wasn't masi really trying to make frame building easier and faster? _______________________________________________
