Subject: [CR]Intro, and question on Brooks saddles

Hello, this is my first post to the CR list.

My name is Greg Goode. I've been riding most of my life, except for a hiatus for college, a 4-yr Army hitch, and grad school. Since 1990, I've ridden track bikes most of the time. I don't race on the velodrome, but ride them through the NYC streets and surrounding areas. I love the classic thin-tube Italian steel track frames from the 1960's and 70's, but have never owned one. I have had a Marinoni from 1992 and now have a De Bernardi from 2001. They have that look, but that's it. My other bike is a custom Serotta track bike, pursuit style. I have a website Old Skool Track, devoted to riding track bikes on the street, from the viewpoint of old-timers who have been doing it for many years and are still doing it. I've learned a lot from the CR website, and Dale was kind enough to let me borrow some photos when I was getting my site started. I was impressed by his kindness and the promptness of his reply.

My question is this. I'm looking for a saddle that feels as good to me as the original Flite did. That bike got stolen. No plastic saddle has done it for me. I'm thinking of getting a Brooks - either the Swallow or the Swift. I think I prefer the Swallow - I remember the days when I was a child, seeing bike racers with Brooks saddles with the skirts cut off. They looked very cool. Is there any difference in the honey vs. black saddle, other than the color? Any comments? Thanks very much!
