Subject: [CR]Wheel Building advice sought

OK, all you expert wheel builders, I'm planning to build two sets of wheels, one for a Caygill, one for a new Bates. Using Phil Wood hubs (126 rear, 48mm flanges) in both cases. Rims will be 36 hole Mavic MA-2 or maybe one set Ambrosio Gentleman. Sutherlands says the proper spoke length is about 303mm for 4X or 295mm for 3X on the MA-2. They don't list the Ambrosio Gentleman, but it seems pretty similar. Anyone have different advise? I'm partial to 4X, but would anyone recommend against this for this hub/rim combination? Finally, anyone know of a really cheap source for DT 14/15 butted spokes? The best I've found so far is Lickton's at $11 per package of 20.
