OLNTV - a cable/dish channel which shows bicycle racing - is airing a series called "Road to the Tour". They're narrated by Sam Posey, who's OK at narration but obviously understands and is passionate about bicycle narration. They're pretty good shows, and each one has a theme. There has been quite a bit of historical footage in some episodes, notably "A Century of the Tour de France" and "Evolution & Revolution".

In the last day or two my Tivo harvested the "Evolution & Revolution" episode, which is about the bicycle racing technology used during the last 100 years of the TdF. I recommend it! It is chock full of vintage TdF bikes, with detailed shots of various components and their functionality, and both video and still images detailing how the bikes were used, repaired and constructed for bicycle racing over the past 100 years. Aero bars and SRM cranks get a pittance of the air time, versus the neat older stuff. I think everyone on this list would enjoy it.

The next showing is tomorrow 6/25, then again 6/28:

(Please note that those are ET, check your listings if you are in another timezone.)

If you don't have cable/dish, you probably know someone who does.

Over and out,
