Yeah !!
Rims should be the color of what they are !!
Wood should look like wood .
Aluminum should be aluminum colored ( why do we call it "silver color" instead of "aluminum color" ? ) .
Rims ought to be silvery-aluminum !!
Tires ought to be black !!
Just as God intended !!
Man , I think a real racing-light wheel , circa 1970 , looks sooooo beautiful . . .
You can just see that it's feather-light , and sunlight glistening off all of those spokes , seemingly fine as hairs , somehow sewing the wheel together . The whole held in some delicately taught balance by the tension on those thin threads of metal . Spokes singing , tight as violin strings . . .
Skinny tire , with skinny black tread on skinny "skin-wall" carcass , mounted onto a super skinny rim , with lots and lots of sparkling skinny spokes . . .
Ahhhhh well , sorry for the romantic "stream of consciousness" fluff .
( and tires were either white , or red , before somebody figured out that adding "blacking" to the material made it much more durable . . . )
Classic Content - isn't it odd that Mavic pioneered the heavy rim / fewer spokes idea , with the Bleu SSC , bringing about the death of radically light rims - meanwhile introducing their GEL 280 just shortly afterward ?
And ,
Anyone have any top-quality rims , in 40-hole drilling , which they'd like to sell to me ?
Or 32 - 40 pairs ?
Tubular rims for sew-up tires , or , "clincher" rims for wired-on tires , either way is O.K .
Sure wish some company would re-introduce some 40 hole rims .
