For Sale: 1980 Bianchi Superleggera. This is a real rarity. In 8 years of looking for vintage lightweights, this is only the second one of these I've seen in this style. And this one is in nearly-new condition. It's birth certificate is an elegant sticker on the bottom of the seat-tube, indicating its date of manufacture to the month.
Most top Bianchis from the early 80s came with painted lugs. A relative few came with chromed head-lugs. This is one of the few.
57cm c-t seat-tube/55.5 c-c top-tube. Full Super-Record group. All the correct pantographed parts and the correct, original OR10 gold-anodized rims. Regina CX freewheel and chain. Correct Cinelli suede saddle.
The pictures do not lie, this bicycle is absolutely immaculate. Note the Vespa head-badge. This was common for only about a year, which makes this bike even more unusual.
I've ridden it probably 100 miles since I got it, and it is among the top-riding bikes I've ever tried. It's a little big for me, unfortunately, or it never would have left my hands. This one is a keeper if it fits you.
There are a few small flaws in the paint. There are a couple of tiny chips in the top-tube, near the seat-cluster. Invisible until you get within inches. There is also one small scratch on a fork-blade, about 3cm long and 1mm wide, around the backside. Other than that, this thing is in display-window condition.
'nuff said. $1500 shipped, which is, in my opinion, under market value.
Feel free to e-mail me with any questions you may have. If no-one here wants it, it's on to ebay.
(The San Rensho is still for sale, btw. It will go to ebay also, if not sold by the end of today. Make me an offer on it!)
