A hardy thanks goes out to Charlie and Stacey Young for hosting Sundays CR and BOB ride on the western side of Philly. Having arrived on Saturday evening Charlie put me to work Sunday morning helping him with pulling out and placing bikes around the OK corral and icing down the beer. I sure didnt score Charlie any brownie points with his wife when he took me down stairs to look at most of his collection.. At the bottom of the stairs I rounded the corner into the shop and I exclaimed Oh my god, Stacey heard me from up in the kitchen. The room was full of bikes, so many bikes and so many marques. Around 10:30 people started to arrive, there was Tom Adams, Steve Maasland, Roy Drinkwater, and Dan Artley from the CR list and several other folks from the BOB list. I was excited about riding as the drive in the day before was breathtaking country side. Charlie had a 30 mile loop laid out for us with mostly rolling terrain which proved to be worthy of the vintage steel that was ready to roll forward. It is always interesting talking to folks as you gain insight into what attacks them to the same interests that you have as well as their backgrounds. In talking to a fellow Eric I found out that he was friends with one of the fellows that works at our resort that I have know for 20 years. At a brief stop to check out some vintage cars we spotted a young Amish boy on a mountain bike drafting his parents horse and buggy. Now that is a sight you dont see every day. After the ride we all gathered back at the farm for beers and lunch and of course much bike talk as well as checking out all the steel. Looking forward to next years ride.
