Reminds me of a 531 bike I saw years ago. The seatpost (swaged, in this case) had slid down into the seat tube when the mechanic was not paying attention. (In this case, the "mechanic" was the owner.) His solution was to bend the end of a coat hanger, hook underneath it, and pull it out. He put the end of the coat hanger right through the tube! Came in seeking one of our foil dealer decals to hide the hole so he didn't feel quite so stupid. Problem was, the decal had to be put on the side of the tube, not the front as typical.
