Subject: [CR]Pat Hanlon

Pat was a well respected racer in her day and latterly a very popular wheel builder. She died about 5 years ago IIRC. I once answered an ad for a Raleigh racing bike but when I got there it was badged as a Pat Hanlon. It turned out to be Pat's own bike. She had built it up with a mix of bits on a 19"(48cm) Prugnat lugged frame built for her , I suspect, by Tom Board. The frame is metallic pink and has white vinyl stickers with her name on. It is classic 1970's Italian style with sloping crown. Brazeons for derailleurs. She had fitted Campy L/F Record track hubs on Mavic GP40 Clincher rims with a very early first gen Campy Pista chainset. BBKT Spindle has the flanges, first one I'd ever seen. Campy seatpost and Brooks b17. 3TTT Superleggera bars and Ambrosia stem. Brakes were Suntour Superbe. She had got too old to ride it so had given it to her neighbours son. All he wanted was a mountain bike so they sold it along with a lot of her tools and some spares. I bought the lot then had to pack the bits in my haversack and rode the bike to the station. I have to admit that the early Campag bits went on to a 1957 Gillott track iron.
