Peter,

I disagree with that explaination; knowing what I know of all aspects of the situation. Mario was way too proud of his work to think that way. He also probably knew full well that the quality of the paint job was of supreme importance. The greater probability is that the painter was struggeling to learn the fine points of painting and had very little actual experience painting frames prior to working with Confente. As a painter at Masi, I know for sure that I was taught how to do these operations flawslessly every time, or else take the decal off and put on another one, which we avoided at all cost since it took a lot of time. The pace at Confente was nothing like the pace of frames at Masi, so the painter had plenty of time to do it right if it was possible. As a learner with no one to guide them, one knows that the next one may not work either and at some point the decal on the frame is "close enough", which is how something like this goes out. It can't get any better so it has to go out that way.

Also the decals on my frame are fractured and have small pieces missing here and there as well as having the seat bands misaligned. I'm actually surprised the frame went out this way, and it is original for certain. We would never get away with that at Masi Carlsbad. Not sure how a Confente went out that way.

Oh, that's easy. He was Italian! And he knew those dumb Americans would buy anything Italian. ;-)
