I'm removing very yellowed and soft clear from a 1972 Flying Scott. I may be particularly lucky with this project, as you can almost get it using your thumb nail. What seems to be really doing the trick, is to apply lacquer thinner via a rag, and then scrape with the thumb nail. Plastic scrapers have so far proven too soft, so I'm getting ready to try making a tool out of oak or some other hard wood. The challenge is the amount of time I can stand to smell lacquer thinner fumes, and the thumb nail giving out!
