We have had so much of our time on this list wasted with largely off-topic whinging and sniping that I make no apology for repeating my previous message. Linas-Montlhery near Paris is in real danger of closing for good in 2005. It was an important venue for cycling. Use Google to find the links.

Here in England, we had two tracks which were used for cycling as well as motor sport... Brooklands and Crystal Palace. At the Palace, the cycling came first and motorcycling then car racing followed. In 1937, there was a combined cycle, motorbike and car event there.

Brooklands has gone. Crystal Palace has gone. Sold down the river.

Perhaps Linas-Montlhery can be saved from becoming another desert land of housing and industrial estates. You can help to save it. Use Google again. Put in 'Petition Montlhery' and follow up the links. Do it this weekend.

Please!

Stuart Tallack looking forward to crossing the channel to France again soon.
