Hello, I got my SL Bertoni new in 1988. According to fellow member Mark Ritz, they were designed at Univega (Long Beach, CA) by Ben Lawee and were made in Italy. I have also heard that they were made at the Bianchi factory. I have a Bianchi of the same period and it is almost exact in every detail.

The alluminum Bertonis I think looked like Vitus frames and may have been made by Vitus.

Mine is a great handling bike but right now it is apart and I may repaint it with a tri-colour scheme. There is a local bike shop here that has a few Bertoni frames still hanging up for sale.

Ciao,
